The Port-Royal Habitation was constructed in 1939–1940 as a reconstruction of the original settlement established in 1605 by Sieur de Mons and his group of French settlers. The buildings were carefully recreated to reflect the architecture, construction methods, and daily life during the beginnings of Acadia.
